Shopping center celebrates continued growth with opening of new shops, offices and restaurants

OXNARD — The Collection at RiverPark, a 650,000-square-foot, open-air shopping center, is growing once again, with the addition of eight new businesses that will be opening their doors throughout the rest of the year. This marks a continued trend of success for The Collection, which has celebrated several grand openings in the past year.

New tenants opening soon at The Collection include PizzaMan Dan’s, Red Door Escape Room, Bowlero (a 32,000-square-foot venue), King and Queen Cantina, Salons by JC, Keller Williams and Exer Urgent Care.

The Collection is already home to several other entertainment businesses — including Levity Live Comedy Club, Copper Blues Rock Pub & Kitchen, Jump ’N Jammin, Color Me Mine and Century RiverPark 16 — and with the additions of Bowlero and Red Door Escape Room, there will be even more fun for all ages and interests. In the shopping, dining and services categories, The Collection also recently welcomed Sunglass Hut, LaserAway, Burnin’ Mouth and Don Waffly.

Traci Russell.

Traci Russell, Senior Leasing Director at CenterCal Properties, attributes much of the shopping center’s success to its unique location, atmosphere and blend of tenants. Located right off the freeway with large, easily visible signage, The Collection naturally attracts a wide variety of visitors from throughout Ventura County and beyond.

“When potential tenants tour our property, they can tell instantly that we’re thriving,” Russell said. “There are always plenty of people coming and going, but because of the large, outdoor atmosphere, it never gets unpleasantly crowded. The property is beautiful, and we provide an enjoyable shopping experience with a community feel. Not only are we always attracting new customers, but when people visit, they want to stay a long time and come back again.”

In addition to offering an ideal atmosphere for businesses to prosper, The Collection also offers a balance of tenants that support each other’s success. Russell said the shopping center has offerings for every daily need, from shopping, dining and entertainment to health and wellness, personal care, and beyond.

“The name says it all,” Russell said. “It is a true collection — we have something here for everyone. There’s a complementary balance of well-known chains and small boutiques, offering both a national experience and a local vibe. Our tenants are well suited to our visitors’ needs, offering the right products and services at the right price points.”

Even during the pandemic, The Collection continued to grow, which Russell said is largely due to its open-air environment, ample parking throughout the center to support curbside pickup and the exceptional service The Collection provides for its tenants.

“We worked closely with each of our tenants throughout the pandemic to help them feel comfortable and adapt,” Russell said. “It was important that they knew we were on their side and that we empathized with them. They knew we would do everything in our power to support them.”

Russell also said closures at regional malls on both sides of The Collection helped to drive traffic during the pandemic. Because of the shopping center’s central location, businesses looking to consolidate and reach a broader audience with a single store chose The Collection as their home. Due to its outdoor atmosphere, The Collection has seen interest from several tenants at local enclosed malls.

With the new tenants that will be opening soon included, 90% of the available space at The Collection has been leased — and the shopping center already has future deals in the pipeline with two additional restaurants, an entertainment venue, a health and wellness business, and a national jeweler. More details will be announced in the coming months.
