TRI-COUNTY — Every year, Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation’s (TBCF) “Project Turkey” helps food-insecure families who have a child facing pediatric cancer in the Tri-County areas with grocery gift cards and food baskets.

Just in time for Thanksgiving, TBCF plans on donating items to hospitals, clinics and homes and are hoping to help 50 families or more with Project Turkey food and grocery gift card donations this season.

So far, TBCF has secured 26 Thanksgiving Food Gift Baskets & 31 $50 Grocery Gift Cards for TBCF families, delivering to Ventura County Medical Center, Cottage Children’s Medical Center, Mission Hope Cancer Center in Santa Maria, as well as to families’ homes.

“We are calling upon our community’s spirit of giving to support food-insecure families who not only have a child with cancer, but who are experiencing Thanksgiving this year during a global pandemic” said Corey Pahanish, Executive Director of Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation. “This has been a particularly rough year for all of the families that we serve, that said, we are inviting our supporters to participate in the joy of giving. A simple donation of $50 can make the difference between a family celebrating Thanksgiving or not. Help us reach and beat our goal!” said Pahanish.

To reach all 50 families who need the support, TBCF has extended their donation end-date for food items and gift cards to Wednesday, November 25th. Pick-ups can arranged if needed, and donors can also mail items to the TBCF office at 3892 State St., Ste. 220 Santa Barbara, 93105.
