OXNARD — Historic Heritage Square in Downtown Oxnard offers visitors a slice of history with its beautifully restored structures featuring a special history of Oxnard’s early pioneer families.

Friends of Heritage Square provides docent guided tours of the exterior buildings on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sundays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.  Tours run approximately 45 minutes long, starting at the Heritage Square Visitor Center at 715 South A Street.  The cost is $5 per person.

Group tours are also available at Heritage Square by appointment during the week.  Groups can opt to select tour packages which include catered teas and box lunches before or after the tour.  In addition, Heritage Square serves as a venue for special events for groups looking to arrange a lunch, dinner, lecture and other presentations. Special events can be set up in the Main Plaza, which captures the beauty of the Victorian mansions and surrounding gardens.

For those wanting to take a self-guided tour, visitors can simply download the Walking Tour Brochure at  www.HeritageSquareOxnard.com/tours.html.  For more information, call Heritage Square Visitors Center at 805-483-7960.

About Friends of Heritage Square: The Friends of Heritage Square is a volunteer organization established in 1993.  The group provides regular tours of the Square and helps to interpret the importance of its structures through ongoing research and training.  They also support other activities in Heritage Square and Oxnard and can be seen generally in costume at the Summer Concerts, Autumn Home Tours and Oxnard Salsa Festival.  Funds raised from the Victorian Home Tours support their onsite educational programs for area school children.
