Budget commits to robust emergency preparedness and paid family leave
SACRAMENTO – State Sen. Hannah-Beth Jackson (D-Santa Barbara) released the following statement on Governor Gavin Newsom’s January budget proposal released today.
“I applaud Governor Newsom’s visionary yet prudent approach to addressing some of the major challenges facing California working families and our communities today. With this budget proposal, Newsom is advancing significant investments in fire prevention and recovery, education, childcare, affordable housing and homelessness reduction, and access to justice. In addition, having championed the issue for many years, I am particularly encouraged by Governor Newsom’s commitment to expanding paid family leave. This proposed budget also sends us on a path to eliminate our recession-era debt while boldly planning for our future. I look forward to working with the Governor on these important issues as we finalize the budget in the months to come,” said Senator Jackson.
Jackson chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee. She represents the 19th Senate District, which includes all of Santa Barbara County and western Ventura County.
