WESTLAKE VILLAGE — The Southeast Ventura County YMCA is one of nine YMCAs to share a portion of a $20 million donation from Ballmer Group to the California State Alliance of YMCAs. The funding will take place over three years and will be used to expand the YMCAs’ ability to provide programs to low-income youth. The Southeast Ventura County YMCA will receive $165,000.
“Ballmer Group’s generous donation will go towards our ‘Find My Genius’ program for low- and moderate-income students who are not reading at grade level and for scholarships for youth and afterschool enrichment including ‘Youth and Government’,” says Ronnie Stone, YMCA president and CEO. “The scholarships ensure that no one is ever turned away from a YMCA program because of the inability to pay. By investing in youth, we are not just changing individual lives—we are strengthening the fabric of our community.”
Co-founded by Connie and Steve Ballmer, Ballmer Group funds organizations and leaders that help children, especially those born into poor families, with economic mobility.
