OXNARD — Visit Oxnard is seeking locals’ help in unearthing the hidden gems of Oxnard.  It works simply this way:  Residents send in tips on the hidden gems they have discovered for a chance to win a prize package.  The package includes a one-night stay at the Hampton Inn located in Channel Islands Harbor, plus a day trip for two aboard Island Packers to the Channel Islands National Park’s Santa Cruz Island.

“There is an increasing trend in the travel & tourism industry for visitors to seek out unique and authentic experiences instead of gravitating towards the major attractions that don’t necessarily have that local feel,” stated Brittney Hendricks, Marketing & Communications Director for Visit Oxnard. “We decided to create this fun contest because residents are the local experts and experience Oxnard’s hidden gems everyday as part of their  routine. Visitors want to know what it’s like to live the way they do,” continued Hendricks.

Residents can send in their tips to Visit Oxnard at info@visitoxnard.com.  The winner will be announced on October 1, 2019.

When it comes to travel destinations, Oxnard is a little under the radar, but is a pleasant surprise — a best kept secret, a hidden gem.  For those who do know about Oxnard, they know of the pristine beaches, the perfect weather and the expansive harbor.  They know about the auto museums, the shopping and entertainment centers and the year-round festivals and events.  But, what else?  “We are hopeful that this exercise will help to elevate awareness of Oxnard’s lesser known treasures within our gem of a city,” added Hendricks.
