Meet Santa Barbara County artist (and Santa Paula native) George Lockwood at the Santa Paula Art Museum for the premiere of his all-new solo exhibition, “The Art of George Lockwood,” on Saturday, September 16! With a lifelong passion for wildlife and the outdoors, Lockwood taught himself to draw and paint as he worked as a guide in Alaska for 19 years. A full-time painter since 2003, Lockwood’s newest works feature scenes and subjects from Santa Paula to the Central Coast to the Pacific Northwest.

“The Art of George Lockwood” will be on view from September 16, 2023, to January 14, 2024. All of the artworks in the exhibition will be available for purchase.

Take our new ceramics courses and pottery wheels for a spin in September! Our new ceramics studio inside the Cole Creativity Center offers beginning and intermediate wheel throwing and hand-building courses for ages 16 and over. All supplies are provided in every class and space is limited. New courses will be added every 6-8 weeks, so keep an eye on our emails and website for additional opportunities. Museum members receive 10% off all classes.

Our new After School: Ceramics program for ages 6 to 9 starts Thursday, September 7. After School: Art for ages 10 to 14 begins Monday, September 11. Both programs will be offered anew each month at $40 per month. All supplies are provided and space is limited. Museum members receive 10% off all classes, including kids’ classes.

At SPAM, the highlight of August was most definitely our Fine Art Auction Fundraiser. This year’s auction raised over $60,000 for the Museum!
