Experience the beauty of Ventura County through the eyes of award-winning Thousand Oaks artist Harvey Cusworth. Inspired by California’s distinctive natural light, Cusworth’s expressive oil paintings explore the dynamic between light, color, and form.

The solo exhibition presents 29 original works ranging from sweeping views of the Santa Monica Mountains and Pacific coastline to intimate scenes of urban life. All of the artworks will be available for purchase. “Visions of Conejo Valley and the Malibu Coast” will be on view from September 13, 2025, to January 11, 2026.

Free for all ages

Free Family Day is back on the first Sunday of every month from September through June! Our September event invites families to explore the traditions and artistic expressions of Indigenous cultures through hands-on art activities.

At 1 PM, Tonetta Lone Elk, a Northern Cheyenne Native American and Ventura County educator, will lead a book reading and hands-on activity exploring pictographs and the storytelling traditions of her ancestors. Admission is free and all are welcome.

An all-new Parent and Child Art Class begins Monday, September 8. The four-part series is a fun, hands-on way to explore creativity with your little one (ages 3-6). Teaching artist Mieriam Ross will guide you through playful, skill-building projects using safe, washable materials.

After spending most of his childhood in Santa Paula, Horace Bristol became one of the most important American photographers of the 20th century, documenting pivotal moments in history from the migrant farm workers of the Great Depression to the battlefields of World War II and portraits of post-war Japan. Our newest exhibit features over a dozen gelatin silver print photographs from the Museum’s permanent collection.
