OXNARD — The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme invites the community to join them for the 13th Annual Day for Kids celebration 11 a.m. – 4 p.m., Sept. 22 at the Martin V. Smith Youth Center Clubhouse, 1900 West 5th Street, Oxnard. More than 3,000 people of all ages are expected to attend.
The free event boasts a family-fun atmosphere, with carnival games, prizes, face painting, jolly jumpers, bungee runs, a rock wall and pony rides, along with great food and more. There will be live stage entertainment, including the Voices of Hope Choir, and talent show performed by our BGCOP youth. There will also be information booths where families can get information about services provided within the community and BGCOP will be providing free new memberships.
Kaiser Permanente is the event’s presenting sponsor and will be providing free health screenings, including blood pressure, glucose, and height, weight and BMI calculations. Their mobile health vehicle will be at the Club from 9-11:30 a.m. and 12:30-3 p.m.
“We all have such busy lives these days, and for many parents it can be difficult to squeeze in quality time with their children on a daily basis. Day for Kids is an opportunity for people to set aside an afternoon and enjoy special, meaningful time with their families,” said Erin Antrim, BGCOP chief executive officer. “And, thanks to community support, we are able to provide additional free health screenings, new Club memberships and hopefully, a fun afternoon for our families.”
