SANTA BARBARA — First United Methodist Church announces its Fall and Winter events at 305 E. Anapamu St., Santa Barbara.
Music performances taking advantage of the church’s splendid acoustics will include Santa Barbara Music Club FREE Saturday concerts, the West Coast Chamber Orchestra’s “Mozart by Candlelight” Thanksgiving concert, and the Fratelli, A Men’s Chorus annual holiday concert.
Of special note is the annual Living Nativity which takes place the week preceding Christmas. With live animals including the ever-popular camels, and a silent tableau of the Holy Family, this event has provided an intergenerational experience of wonder for almost 30 years and is one of Santa Barbara’s “not to be missed” holiday events. In recent years the church has opened the sanctuary during the Living Nativity, drawing visitors inside to enjoy the display of créches on the altar rail, Christmas decorations, special music, and docent tours of the historic stained glass windows.
