Sept. 12 — Santa Paula Art Museum to present painting demo by Artist Annie Hoffman

SANTA PAULA — On Thursday, September 12, 2019, artist Annie Hoffman will perform a public painting demonstration at the Santa Paula Art Museum starting at 2:00pm. Admission to the demonstration is free. Hoffman will talk about her methods and answer questions from the audience as she paints a still life of white roses and sweet peas. The finished painting will be raffled off at the end of the demonstration with each attendee receiving a free raffle ticket. The demo is being held in concert with the Santa Paula Art Museum’s current exhibition “On Location in the Santa Monica Mountains and Seashore,” in which Hoffman is one of thirty-four featured artists.

A native of London, England, Annie Hoffman lived and worked in Los Angeles for many years prior to moving to Santa Barbara in 2016. After taking undergraduate art classes at both UCLA and Santa Monica College, she spent a year studying at the Académie Notre Dame de Champs in Paris. Upon her return to Los Angeles in 1995 she resolved to become a serious and dedicated oil painter. Ms. Hoffman has participated in numerous group shows in California, and has mounted successful solo exhibits in southern and central California. She has studied extensively with master artists of the Russian impressionist style. She also regularly teaches classes from her studio and gives workshops and demonstrations to local art organizations.

The Santa Paula Art Museum occupies two historic buildings located at 117 N 10th Street and 123 N 10th Street in downtown Santa Paula. The Museum features rotating exhibitions of vintage and contemporary art, creative classes for children and adults, family-friendly events, live musical performances, a gift shop, and more. Regular museum hours are Wednesday through Saturday from 10:00am to 4:00pm, and Sunday from 12:00pm to 4:00pm.
