SANTA PAULA — Get your craft on in the Santa Paula Art Museum’s new, monthly “Crafty Creations” class for ages 12 and up starting September 12, 2019! Enjoy the satisfaction and creative expression of crafting with friends, playing with techniques and materials, and leaving with a fun and personal decorative object. It’s a monthly meeting of crafty minds! On Thursday, September 12, we’ll make a statement with a clever and playful plaque project made from simple materials. The class will run from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. All materials will be provided, and all skill levels are welcome.
This monthly opportunity is made possible by our very generous teaching artist, Marianne Romero, who is volunteering her time to teach this class. In the spirit of that generosity, participants will only be asked to pay what they can (a donation can be made online or in class). However, to help us manage supplies, registration is required, and online registration is preferred. Please no drop-ins. Students under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Space is limited to 20 students per class on a first come first served basis. You can register for class online at www.santapaulaartmuseum.org/creativity.
Born and raised in Santa Paula, teaching artist Mariann Romero has taught art at Santa Paula High School for the past 29 years. Although drawing is her favorite art medium, crafts have been a part of her life since age eight when she took her first arts and crafts class through the recreation department. It was that experience that hooked her on art.
