VENTURA COUNTY — Beginning in January, seniors 65 and older may be eligible for free access to the exercise programs at the Conejo Valley, Yarrow and Simi Valley YMCAs as part of their health insurance coverage.
Seniors must first contact their health insurance provider to verify eligibility for one of two reimbursement programs: Silver & Fit and Renew Active. Reimbursement eligibility can be confirmed by calling the customer service phone number on the back of their health plan ID card. If the health plan qualifies, seniors will be given a confirmation code.
“Bring the confirmation code to one of our YMCA branches and register,” says Allison Wilson, senior director of membership at the Conejo Valley YMCA. “Once registered, you’ll be able to work out in our training rooms, participate in classes like yoga and Zumba and swim in our indoor lap and therapy pools.”
Branch locations of the Southeast Ventura County YMCA are Conejo Valley YMCA (4031 North Moorpark Rd., Thousand Oaks, 805-523-7613), Yarrow Family YMCA (31105 East Thousand Oaks, Blvd., Westlake Village, 818-707-9622) and Simi Valley Family YMCA (3200 Cochran St., Simi Valley, 805-583-5338).
The branches serve the Conejo Valley, Simi Valley, Westlake Village, Agoura Hills, Oak Park, Moorpark and Santa Rosa Valley.
