SBCC update for July 13

SBCC The Bridge

Santa Barbara City College’s Community Newsletter

Message From the President – July 2018

On a snowy winter evening in Reading, Pennsylvania, a small group of college students invented a movie game called the “Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon.” The general idea was that all movie actors can be somehow linked to Kevin Bacon in no more than six shared movie experiences. This is an extension of the “six degrees of separation” idea that any two people in the world can be connected in six or fewer steps. I’m not sure if this is fact or urban myth, but I am convinced that six degrees of separation holds true for people in Santa Barbara linking to SBCC!  These community connections and links run deep and can clearly be seen in our 2017-2018 SBCC Report to the Community.
We are truly excited to present to you this community report of our college’s events, activities, and efforts during this last academic year. What a year it has been with so many college points of pride. Please let me know what you think and what connections you have to the college.

Dr. Anthony E. Beebe, Superintendent/President
