College announces selection of 3 finalists for position of Superintendent/President

Candidate forums to take place this week
Three finalists have been chosen for the position of SBCC President/Superintendent, with candidate forums happening in-person at the Garvin Theatre on March 14 and 15, as well as live-streamed and recorded.Read more about the Superintendent/President candidates here.

New Calif. Community Colleges Chancellor announced

Following a nationwide search that lasted more than seven months, the California Community Colleges Board of Governors announced the unanimous selection of Kern Community College District Chancellor Sonya Christian as the next permanent chancellor on Feb. 23. Read more.

SBCC ASG Olympics soar with school spirit

A staff/faculty vs. students tug-of-war was just one of many thrilling events at the first-ever ASG-hosted SBCC Olympics at La Playa field on Saturday, March 4. The student competitions in volleyball, soccer, cornhole, relay, dodgeball and table tennis were a battle between domestic and international students, with domestic students taking the overall win. ASG hosts grand opening ceremony for Prayer, Relaxation and Meditation room

Students from ASG organized a grand opening/ribbon-cutting for the new Prayer, Relaxation and Meditation room on campus (A125), held on Feb. 23. Student Emelie Beckman felt strongly that such a room should exist on campus for students and staff. With the help of ASG, SBCC Trustees, administration and the SBCC Foundation, she made it happen! SBCC teams rise to the top in Collegiate Programming competition

Four teams of students from SBCC participated in the Southern California Regionals for the International Collegiate Programming Competition (ICPC) at Riverside City College on Feb. 25. Of the close to 60 teams participating, team SBCC won first, second, third and fifth place.The two top teams came home with prize money! Meet the students and read the full story here.

Gourmet Dining Room open for a limited time

SBCC’s Gourmet Dining Room will be open for dinner on Thursday and Friday evenings during the Spring semester, with students from the School of Culinary Arts serving up the delicacies. Reservations: 5:30-7:00 p.m. via email at gdr@pipeline.sbcc.edu. More info on the Gourmet Dining Room website
