SANTA BARBARA — SBCC Scheinfeld Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation is pleased to announce it has received $15,000 in funding for students participating in the 2017 New Venture Challenge business plan and pitch competition.
Two checks were provided to the SBCC Foundation totaling $15,000. The first is in the amount of $12,500 that Spirit of Entrepreneurship raised in 2016 to provide seed money for the high school and collegiate winners of the upcoming 2017 Scheinfeld Center New Venture Challenge.
The second check, in the amount of $2,500, will be added to the Spirit of Entrepreneurship Foundation Scholarship Fund established with the SBCC Foundation last year. This money will be used to award scholarships to attend a four-year college or university during the subsequent academic year for any of the 2017 New Venture Challenge winners who wish to apply for it.
“We are grateful to the Spirit of Entrepreneurship Foundation for this generous support that will directly support students’ success as entrepreneurs,” said Julie Samson, Director, Scheinfeld Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation. “We welcome the community to celebrate the many success stories that are already strengthening our community and economy, and to stay closely tuned for many more.”
The Santa Barbara City College Scheinfeld Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation is now accepting spring enrollments for its Rapid Launch Intensive that helps students launch a simple product or service in a single semester. The Intensive is open to all SBCC students regardless of academic discipline, and consists of three courses: Enterprise Launch (ENT 206), Business Plan Development (ENT 208), and Intro to Product Design (DRFT 142).
Rapid Launch Intensive students are eligible to apply for entry to the Scheinfeld Center’s New Venture Challenge business plan and pitch competition on April 28, 2017. Three collegiate winners and three high school winners will be the recipients of the cash and scholarship awards.
