SANTA BARBARA — Santa Barbara City College Center for Lifelong Learning (the CLL) received the Excellence in Marketing Award from Learning Resources Network (LERN), the world’s largest professional association in continuing education and lifelong learning. LERN announced the CLL as the top winner for its marketing practices among lifelong learning and continuing education providers during the LERN Annual Conference 2016, held in Baltimore, Maryland this year.
“We owe this success to our dedicated staff, expert teachers, and students who inspire our marketing efforts both online and off,” said Andy Harper, CLL Executive Director. “We look forward to introducing more of the community to our classes and creating more and more opportunities for our students to discover their passion.”
The CLL is offering a record 95 brand new offerings among its upcoming 415 Spring Term classes. A total of 576 new classes have been introduced since the re-launch of the program in 2013 and all CLL teachers are professionals and experts in their fields.
In the first three years of operation, the CLL has enrolled over 10,000 unduplicated students and averaged over 21,000 enrollments per year.
LERN also offers its members expert evaluation of marketing materials and campaigns. In addition to the official award presentation, the CLL also won the annual audience vote for Augusoft’s Best Website as well as the Customer of the Year Award at the Augusoft Lumens Power Summit, which coincided with the LERN conference. This year, the CLL performed an intensive customization of the latest release of the Augusoft Lumens registration platform.
“The results that the CLL has had are impressive, their marketing presence is responsible for a definitive increase in their enrollment numbers,” said Bill Draves, Vice President of LERN Core Services. “They are a model for exceptional marketing practices.”
“This is a tremendous honor and recognition in an extremely competitive field,” said Anthony Beebe, SBCC President. “The impact of Lumens, and what was done in social media and print media, are all impressive!”
In 2014, the CLL was received an Excellence in Marketing award for its innovative Look & Learn video series, now a growing collection of over 300 free, short how-to videos, and an Excellence in Brochure Design award for the new look of its printed class schedules.
