2024-2026 Santa Paula Art Museum Board President John Nichols
Season’s Greetings from the Santa Paula Art Museum! I’m John Nichols, current president of the Santa Paula Art Museum Board of Directors. I have been an exhibiting artist, guest curator, donor, and board member of the Museum since its establishment in 2010, and I have been a resident of Santa Paula for over 50 years.
I believe the arts are essential to the good health of every community. I am incredibly proud of all the Museum has to offer, from our original exhibitions and permanent collection of Ventura County’s best historic and contemporary artists to our free arts education programs for children and families and high-quality fine art, ceramics, and fiber arts courses via the Museum’s Cole Creativity Center.
With the new year upon us and nearly 15 successful years under our belt, the greatest goal of SPAM’s board of directors is to sustain and safeguard the Museum well into the future. It’s why my wife and I joined the Museum’s The Art of Legacy Society this year by meeting with our estate planning attorney to make a provision for the Santa Paula Art Museum in our estate plans. It’s why I encourage you to make an end-of-the-year donation, become a 2025 member, or learn more about the Legacy Society.
On behalf of the Museum’s entire board and staff, thank you for being a part of our Santa Paula Art Museum community. Please enjoy our 2024 Year in Review below. We hope to see you often in 2025.

In 2024, over 5,000 visitors took in 318 original works of art across 7 exhibitions featuring 108 SoCal artists.
554 students of all ages participated in 64 courses and camps in fine art, ceramics, and fiber arts at our Cole Creativity Center.

1,300 K-12 students were served by the Museum’s free ArtSPARK Tour Program, which offers Ventura County classrooms a guided tour of our current exhibitions followed by a hands-on art workshop.

“Chavez Ravine” by Ralph Holmes (1876-1963), Date unknown, Oil on board, 20 x 24 inches, Collection of the Santa Paula Art Museum, Gift of Jyl and Allan Atmore.
19 significant works of art were added to the Museum’s permanent collection, ensuring they will be kept safe for future generations to study and enjoy.
Over 1,200 children and parents joined us for 8 Free Family Day events during the year, the largest being our Día de los Muertos celebration in November.
In addition to our major exhibitions, the Museum exhibited 6 student exhibitions featuring 210 artworks by local K-12 students.
This year, we continued our 2 long-running, offsite community partnerships serving the four sites of Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clara Valley and farm worker housing sites supported by House Farm Workers. We’ve just launched a third offsite partnership with Santa Paula Unified School District to provide a variety of arts enrichment programming to the students and teachers of Blanchard Elementary Academy of Visual Arts.

The work of the Santa Paula Art Museum is not possible without our donors, members, and volunteers. Thank you for your support!
The Museum would also like to thank our 2024 grantmakers and gold and silver event sponsors:
