Santa Paula Art Museum — Week in Review

Santa Paula Art Museum

Jeanette Cole Art Center & Cole Creativity Center

Last Sunday’s Halloween-themed Free Family Day was a blast with 170 guests dropping in to make mixed media masks and clay mini monsters! Our new display of colorful calaveras art by students from Santa Paula High School really added to the ambiance inside the Museum’s Cole Creativity Center. Our October Crafty Creations class was also great fun as teaching artist Mariann Romero showed students how to paint decorative rocks to add a pop of color to their personal spaces. Now we’re looking forward to Wine and Watercolorson Saturday, October 19, Día de los Muertos on Sunday, November 3, and more great classes in between!
Join us at the Museum on Saturday, October 19 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm for Wine and Watercolors, our new, after-hours event catered to adults. Enjoy wine tasting with Santa Paula Cellars and live music by ukulele-playing chanteuse Shay Moulder. Plus, play with watercolor painting techniques and be entered into a raffle to win an original watercolor by professional artist Timothy Kitz. In need of childcare? We’ve got that covered too (at no extra cost). Tickets are $20.00 per person and can be purchased in advance.
With art historian and Santa Paula Art Museum Curator of Creativity Meg Phelps as your guide, explore the landmark book and documentary film Secret Knowledge in which artist David Hockney reveals the secret tools and techniques used by generations of painters for their incredibly realistic results. Discover why the great masters were so great in this two-part class on Wednesday, October 23 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm, and Thursday, October 24 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. The cost of this class is $30.00 per person.
