SANTA PAULA — The Santa Paula Art Museum is proud to announce the award-winning artworks featured in its eleventh annual “Art About Agriculture” exhibition, now on view through February 24, 2019. The exhibit includes 72 works of art in a variety of media by 64 different artists. The artworks portray the beauty and bounty of agriculture in scenes ranging from fields, farmworkers and farmers markets to animals, barns and backroad vistas.

The annual agricultural-themed art show is guest curated by the Ag Art Alliance, a collective formed by Santa Paula photographer John Nichols and painter Gail Pidduck, whose aim is to call attention to the importance of agriculture through art. Nichols and Pidduck recently judged all of the works in the exhibition and awarded cash prizes in five different categories. Artist Pete Ruiz’s charming photograph entitled “Pantaloons” earned the “Whimsical Award.” The “Interactive Award” went to KC Spink’s oil painting, “Next 7 Miles.” Adon Valenziano’s mixed media sculpture, “Hass,” won the “3-D Award.” Ramona Andrew’s photograph entitled “Reflecting” was awarded the “Connection Award,” and Pausha Foley’s detailed pen and ink drawing, “Zucchini Chips,” was given the “Monochrome Award.” The winning artworks and the entire exhibition can be seen now through February 24, 2019.
