Gallery Talk: Local Clay
Thursday, August 30, 2pm
Ventura County sculptors Marianne McGrath and Cheryl Ann Thomas will give a joint talk and tour of their current dual exhibit, Local Clay. Admission is $4 for adults, $3 for seniors, and free for students and members.
Gallery Talk: Gail Hercher
Saturday, September 8, 2pm
Printmaker Gail Hercher, M.F.A., will share everything there is to know about gelatin monoprints, a new printmaking method which doesn’t require a printing press. Admission is $4 for adults, $3 for seniors, and free for students and members.

The premiere of The 25th De Colores Art Show will feature live music by Cali-Mex band Los Fabulocos, Xavier Montes and his De Colores music students, poetry readings, Folklórico dancers, and more. Admission is free for everyone.

Experience art in a whole new way in The Land of Light! Inspired by artists of all ages, enjoy interactive art installations including lighting effects, visual film graphics, and displays of science and technology. Admission is free for everyone.

Collage Essentials (Ages 16+)

Learn the essential skills, tools, and techniques needed to build a meaningful practice in collage. The cost of each class is $35.00.
Personal Sculpture (Ages 16+)

Back by popular demand! Explore the unique, expressive potential of highly personalized, small scale ceramic works alongside CSUCI Assistant Professor of Art Marianne McGrath. The cost of class is $40.00.
Printing Techniques (Ages 10-13)
Four sessions on Wednesday, October 3, Wednesday, October 10, Wednesday, October 17, and Wednesday, October 24, 3:30pm – 5pm
Kids will learn the history, tools, and techniques of lino cuts, silkscreens and monotypes. This course must be taken as a four-part series. The cost of the four-part series is $65.00.
Still Life in Oils (Ages 16+)
Four sessions on Thursday, October 4, Thursday, October 11, Thursday, October 18, and Thursday, October 25, 6pm – 9pm
Learn the basics of working in oils including color theory, composition and proportions. This course must be taken as a four-part series. The cost of the four-part series is $160.00.
Historic Photo Demo (Ages 16+)
Saturday, October 27, 10am – 1pm
Witness historic photographic processes as you follow photographer Luther Gerlach and his mammoth-plate vintage camera to nearby locations. The cost of the demonstration is $50.00.
Exploring Yupo (Ages 16+)
Tuesday, November 6, 6pm – 9pm
Yupo synthetic paper is fun, easy, and endlessly creative! Learn techniques for expertly handling watercolor on Yupo. Plus, explore the expansive potential that abstract art brings to your creative experience The cost of the class is $40.00.
Personal Bookmaking (Ages 16+)
Saturday, November 17, 1pm – 4pm
Indulge in the joys of hand-crafted books, a beautiful craft with many styles and variations. Each student will leave with at least one personalized, long-stitch book. The cost of the class is $35.00.
Suminagashi (Ages 16+)
Saturday, December 8, 12pm – 2pm
Addictive, meditative and fun! Learn the ancient Japanese art of water marbling. Explore the process, serendipity, and creative applications. The cost of the class is $35.00.
