Santa Paula Art Museum — Hop to It With These Fun Easter Art Projects

Art projects and resources to inspire you and your family
Egg Carton Flowers
With Easter upon us, chances are you may have some extra egg cartons at home. Recycle them! Kids can transform them into fun, colorful flowers.
Easter inspires so many great, at-home art projects. We love that you can use these ideas to celebrate the holiday, and then reimagine them later in your own way!
Easter Bunny Mask
Paper plate masks always make for easy, creative play. Start with the Easter Bunny and then see what other animals and characters you can make!
No-Sew Sock Bunnies
We wouldn’t mind finding one of these adorable no-sew sock bunnies in our Easter basket. Create a new, cuddly friend whenever you need one!
Plastic Egg Painting
After the egg hunt, you can use those leftover plastic Easter eggs for painting. We always encourage exploring non-traditional art tools!
Free online kids’ art lessons:
Check out Art For Kids Hub, a YouTube channel run by a family that loves doing art together. They have art lessons for all ages. All you need is a few supplies.
We love their lesson on overlappinginspired by Easter eggs.
Egg Carton Flowers 2.0
Teens and adults might prefer this more advanced, layered version of egg carton flowers. There are lots of pretty variations you can try!
Free online adult art resources:
Use Google Arts & Culture’s Art Camerato zoom in on details of famous artworks that you normally wouldn’t get to see, even in a museum! Vincent Van Gogh’s The Gardener is a great place to start.
Skillshare.com is currently offering free, two-month trials of their premium membership. The site offers online classes in a wide variety of media. We were mesmerized just watching Leah Goren’s Keeping a Sketchbook course.
Community Creativity Challenge
Stay inspired while we all stay home! During the month of April, we’re giving our community a new creative challenge every day. (We promise they’re fun and easy!) You can follow along on our website and even share your creations on our community creativity board for your chance to win a gift basket of art supplies!

#MuseumFromHome
The Intrusion by Jessie Arms Botke, 1944, oil on Masonite, Collection of the City of Santa Paula.
While the Museum remains closed, we still hope our art exhibits and collection bring some beauty and joy to your days. We thought we’d take this moment to pay homage to the art queen of spring, Jessie Arm Botke. Botke is famous for her gorgeous paintings of birds and foliage. Her oil painting The Intrusion was purchased by the City of Santa Paula from the Santa Paula Art Show in 1944.
