Don’t miss the premiere of Gail Pidduck’s “8² + 10” on Saturday, September 14! Over the past two years, as Pidduck found herself approaching her 74th birthday, the Santa Paula artist gave herself the goal of creating 74 new paintings, 40 of which she selected for this show. With no restrictions as to subject matter, Pidduck let the dimensions of the paintings, 8 inches square, provide the unifying ingredient. Meet the artist and enjoy beer, wine, and hors d’oeuvres during the premiere party from 4 PM to 6 PM.

“8² + 10” will be on view through January 12, 2025. All of the artworks will be available for purchase.

Cole Creativity Center

Open Studio Now Available for Ceramics and Fine Art

SPAM’s Cole Creativity Center now offers Open Studio hours for students seeking a creative space to practice their art! Open Studio is uninstructed and students must have studio experience. Preregistration is required each month.

Ceramics Open Studio is available Tuesdays from 2 PM to 6 PM, and Thursdays from 4 PM to 8 PM. The cost is $60/month for hand-building space and $80 for wheel-throwing access. Students must purchase clay from the Cole Creativity Center.

Fine Art Open Studio is available Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 PM to 6 PM. The cost is $80/month. Students must bring their own supplies. The Cole Creativity Center now offers a selection of supplies in its new supply shop.

Recent Events

Our friends and Chumash Tribal Elders Alan Salazar and Joseph Valencia helped us to present a meaningful Free Family Day event celebrating Native American crafts on September 8.

Thank you to everyone who supported our 2024 Fine Art Auction Fundraiser in August, which raised over $40,000 in critical funding for our free arts education programs.

We recently installed our newest student exhibition, entitled “Art in Bloom,” which features art by campers enrolled in our “Drawing from Life” Kids’ Summer Art Camp for ages 6 to 9.

With school back in session, SPAM’s ArtSPARK School Tour Program led by Museum Educator Janice Allen is busy again providing exhibit tours and hands-on art lessons to local K-12 classrooms.
