SANTA MARIA — Delta High School students are getting help meeting their post-secondary educational goals during “College Thursdays”.

The workshops, held afterschool and in the evening, feature instruction on how to complete college financial aid forms, scholarships and applications, according to Science Teacher Sonia Galvez.

“For many families, this may be their first experience in sending a child to college and it is crucial to be in contact with adults who can answer their questions in a timely manner,’’ Galvez added.

Some key players assisting are Career Center Technician Jamie Lopez, Counselor Mariahelena Hernandez, Yesenia Vazquez – AHC Cal Soap Program Coordinator, Oscar Escobedo – AHC Representative, Carlos Escobedo – AHC Representative, and Liliana Cardenas from the Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara.

“Ms. Vasquez was very helpful and she walked me through every step I needed to complete the FAFSA and the Allan Hancock registration. I don’t think I would have been able to complete them without her help. I met with her three separate times because it’s not easy to get it all done in one sitting.” – Arisbehd Vargas, 12thgrade.
