envjust.jpg
County Planning and Development, the County Sustainability Divisionand the Santa Barbara County Office of Arts & Culture invite artists of all practices in this new call for art expressing what environmental justice means in county unincorporated areas (outside of city boundaries). Three selected artists will receive a $500 honorarium, and two youth artists will be awarded $250 scholarships as part of this initiative.

The purpose of this showcase is to create an opportunity for community members to share their perspectives and experiences living in Santa Barbara County. Themes could include air, water, transportation, utilities, housing, food access, and recreation as they relate to justice or injustice.

All artists submitting work may have the opportunity to showcase work in County media, documents, and policy platforms. All art submissions must be submitted electronically on the County Office of Arts & Culture website (sbac.ca.gov/environmental-justice) by January 10, 2022. Apply today!

Central Coast Community Energy Updates

As your representative on Central Coast Community Energy’s Policy Board, I would like to give a warm welcome to customers in the communities of Carpinteria and Unincorporated Southern Santa Barbara County. More communities joining CCCE means greater benefits for all! Learn more here.

CCCE invites all customers to reduce regional greenhouse gas emissions by switching your transportation, home, or workplace from fossil fuel sources like natural gas or gasoline to electric power generated from clean and renewable sources. CCCE customers including households, property owners, businesses, agriculture, and public agencies are eligible to apply for rebates and incentives offered by CCCE Energy Programs:

Incentives for Electric School Buses available to all public schools and school districts in CCCE’s service area until funds are reserved

Incentives for new, all-electric agricultural equipment available to agricultural businesses and ag-related businesses in CCCE’s service area until funds are reserved

Incentives for new, all-electric affordable housing units within the CCCE service area are available to developers until funds are reserved.

Additionally, Electrify Your Ride re-launched in November with the single largest CCCE Energy Program budget to date! The new and improved program includes the purchase or lease of new and pre-owned electric vehicles, electric vehicle charging stations for homes and workplaces, home and office electrification readiness funding for labor and electric panel updates and/or replacement, and electric bike rebates. If you bought or leased an electric vehicle or purchased and installed an electric vehicle charging station at home or office in October and early November, you may still be eligible for Electrify Your Ride rebates.
