Santa Barbara First District Supervisor Das Williams — Celebrating National Drive Electric Week & More!

Electric Vehicle 101 Webinar & National Drive Electric Week!

Celebrate National Drive Electric Week by attending an Electric Vehicle 101 webinar, e-biking webinar, Goleta or Oxnard EV showcase, or other virtual or live event. As a long-time electric vehicle driver, I can attest to the many benefits of owning an electric vehicle: significantly lower fuel and maintenance costs, various rebates, incentives, and tax credits, and of course reducing your greenhouse gas emissions! See below for some ways to engage and learn more about electric vehicles:

  • EV 101 webinar on Tuesday, September 28th at 7 pm. Put on by the Community Environmental Council, learn about the over 70 models of 100+ mpg equivalent electric and plug-in hybrids available, charging basics, incentives, and more. Register to attend or have the presentation and materials emailed to you.
  • Goleta Farmer’s Market EV showcase Sunday, September 26th at 10 am – 2 pm, Oxnard EV showcase and ride and drive September 26th at 9:30 am – 4 pm, e-biking 101 webinar and more events at www.electricdrive805.org/events/

Globally and nationally, the COVID-19 pandemic has negatively affected many people’s mental health and created new challenges for people already suffering from mental illness and substance use disorders.

In order to ascertain and respond to needs locally, the County, with community mental health and wellness partners and stakeholders, is seeking input to help determine mental health and substance use disorder services to meet the needs of our community. The whole community is invited to respond by September 30, 2021. Take the survey.

SB Response Network Psychological First Aid Training 9/25

The Santa Barbara Response Network (SBRN) has continued to respond to hundreds of traumatic incidents in the community since 2011 including the Thomas Fire, 1/9 debris flow, the Conception dive boat fire, and providing on-going support for the COVID-19 pandemic.

SBRN offers training in psychological first aid and self-care in English and Spanish. These trainings provide individuals and agencies with effective tools to be able to respond to trauma, and help individuals get ongoing mental health support.

SBRN has an upcoming Psychological First Aid Training on September 25th from 9:00 AM – 12:00 pm. If you would like to train to become a volunteer offering support in our community, please register here.
