Rotary Club of Montecito gives $12,500 in scholarships to SBCC students 

In partnership with the SBCC Foundation, Rotary Club of Montecito and its supporting foundation have announced the awarding of 10 $1,250 scholarships to high-performing Santa Barbara City College vocational and career technology students.Read more…

Budding entrepreneurs meet the Scheinfeld New Venture Challenge 

On April 26, local student entrepreneurs dazzled judges and the audience at the SBCC Fé Bland Forum for the 9th Annual Scheinfeld New Venture Challenge business plan and pitch competition. The $5,500 grand prize in the collegiate tier went to Santa Barbara City College student Abel Amoes. Read more…

SBCC Office of Communications receives five statewide awards

Santa Barbara City College’s Office of Communications was recently honored with five awards from the Community College Public Relations Organization (CCPRO), the official professional organization of the marketing and public affairs departments for the state’s 144 community colleges. The awards were presented at CCPRO’s Annual Conference, April 9-12 in San Diego. Read more…

SBCC honors seven athletes and coaches in first Hall of Fame 

Seven coaches and athletes were inducted into the first SBCC Vaqueros Hall of Fame on May 25. The Class of 2019 featured four athletes, three coaches and the Vaqueros’ first state championship team—the 1977 women’s track & field squad. Read more…

Maddie Mitchell wins National Arthur Ashe Sportsmanship Award

Tennis player Maddie Mitchell has been named the national winner of the Arthur Ashe Jr. Leadership & Sportsmanship Award by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). The award is given annually to collegiate student-athletes who have shown great achievements on and off the court, taking into account a player’s tennis accomplishments, scholastic achievements and extracurricular endeavors. Superintendent/President search

On May 23, the SBCC Board of Trustees finalized the screening committee for the hiring of a new Superintendent/President. Three of the 17 members represent the community or noncredit programs, while the other 14 represent various constituent groups within the college.

The next meeting of the SBCC Board of Trustees is scheduled for June 13, at 4 p.m. at the main campus in room A211. The following meeting is scheduled for June 27, at 4 p.m. at the main campus in room A211. There will only be one meeting in July. The Julymeeting is scheduled for July 11 at 4 p.m. at the main campus in room A211. The agenda for Board meetings can be found at least 72 hours prior to the meeting on the Board webpage.
