OXNARD — The Silver Level Recognition Medal was awarded to Rose Avenue School in Oxnard by the California Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS) Coalition for adopting a proactive approach to establishing the behavioral supports and social culture needed for all students in the school to achieve social, emotional and academic success.
“The Rose Avenue team has been working arduously in the implementation of PBIS/CHAMPS (Conversation, Help, Activity, Movement, Participation, and Success) and will continue to pursue the next level of recognition during this school year,” said Pablo Ordaz, Principal of Rose Avenue School.
PBIS is used to create positive school environments with proactive strategies for defining, teaching, and supporting appropriate student behaviors.
Mr. Ordaz said the school was given the Bronze Level Recognition Award last year and that this year’s higher-level award was made possible with the support of Mr. Chris Ridge, Director of Pupil Services, for the Oxnard School District.
“He supported us through the external evaluation and implementation of PBIS/CHAMPS as well as the Ventura County Office of Education,” Ordaz said.
Rose Avenue School will be acknowledged for the award at the third annual California PBIS Coalition Conference in Sacramento on September 26, 2018.
