SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY – RISE received a donation of $5,000 in merchandise from New Balance Athletics, Inc. for shelter and case management clients, providing much-needed apparel for the winter season.

RISE was selected to receive this donation by Ally Carda, Assistant Softball Coach at Cal Poly. As a player of the USA Softball Women’s National Team, Carda is sponsored by New Balance Athletics, Inc., who asked her to choose a non profit of her choice to receive the $5,000 donation.

“I wanted to donate somewhere local, and when I came across RISE, I was drawn to it,” said Carda. “Being a woman in sports, I believe it’s important to be able to be successful, powerful and confident. I am happy I was able to support local women and their families in this way.”

RISE used the funds to purchase New Balance athletic and outdoor wear, such as athletic shoes and fleece jackets, for 14 different shelter and case management families.
