Registration Now Open for Fall Classes at SBCC School of Extended Learning including classes through the Center for Lifelong Learning

This fall, the School of Extended Learning offers more than 800 classes, including many Center for Lifelong Learning classes!
SANTA BARBARA — Trace the footsteps of the “Kings of Swing,” perfect your tandoori chicken recipe and discover your new passion at the Santa Barbara City College School of Extended Learning, which now includes the Center for Lifelong Learning. Fall Semester registration is now open and classes run August 21 – December 9. Classes and workshops start every week throughout the semester, and are held on evenings, weekdays and Saturdays to fit every lifestyle. At the School of Extended Learning, you can pursue a lifelong passion or learn something brand new. Here’s a taste of what the School of Extended Learning has to offer this fall:

  • 48 brand-new fee-based courses through the CLL, including: Tandoori Chicken Tikka with Tikka Masala; Kings of Swing; Tune Up Your Grammar; Express Yourself with Beautiful Calligraphy; Basics of Fashion Photography; and Love and Life:  D.H. Lawrence Reexamined
  • Tuition-free courses offered in the areas of Adult High School Diploma, Construction Technology, Culinary Arts (ServSafe® Food Safety), English as a Second Language, General Education Development and more. (Some classes may have material fees.)
  • The acclaimed Mind & Supermind lecture series continues October 23 withJack Canfield, Ph.D., originator of the Chicken Soup for the Soul series. Presenting “How to Get from Where You Are to Where You Want To Be: A Holistic Approach,” Dr. Canfield will discuss a proven set of principles and methods, that when applied in the right way, in the right order and at the right time, will help you achieve your goals.
  • Best-selling author and award-winning journalist Kathleen Sharp exposes the longtime influence of Hollywood on U.S. politics in Hollywood’s Overarching Influence on the Body Politic, November 15.
  • Acclaimed local historian Erin Graffy returns with Santa Barbara History You Don’t Know – but Would Love to Ask! and a special 4-session course After the Fall: A Cultural History of Postwar Vietnam, starting October 17 and timed to follow the PBS premiere of the new Ken Burns documentary, The Vietnam War.
  • Award-winning Look & Learn videos: Get to know our renowned teachers in the award-winning Look & Learn video series; nearly 250 videos and growing every week! Look & Learns are free, short online videos where you can meet our teachers and learn something new in just one or two minutes. Look & Learn videos are online at www.theCLL.org
