About the Rebozo Festival: Formed in 2005, a small group of community volunteers, Las Madrinas (the Godmothers), gathered to organize the 1st Rebozo Festival, a benefit event established to raise funds for Ventura County non-profit charitable organizations focusing on the cultural, social and educational needs of the community. This unique cultural event promotes the rich heritage of our area by highlighting the colorful Mexican rebozo (shawl) as our theme.
Honorary Madrina for the 2017 Rebozo Festival is Connie Owens, she is currently employed with the Ventura County Community College District as a Community Development and Institutional Advancement Specialist. In her position she oversees the daily operations of the Oxnard College Foundation, the fundraising arm of the college which fund scholarships, campus development and educational programs. She has supported the Rebozo Festival annually with their Scholarship Fund process. Her efforts and assistance in helping with the work that goes on behind the scenes to make the Reboza Festival a wonderful event shows her true commitment to the community and to the festival.
