Children ages 9 to 11 learn animal care, crafts and many other activities
SANTA BARBARA – Santa Barbara Humane Society presents “Critter Camp” summer day camps for children 9 to 11 years old who love animals and want to learn more about them.
One week camp sessions run June 27-July 1, July 11-15, and July 25-19 from Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. – noon at the Santa Barbara Humane Society Education Center, 5399 Overpass Rd.
“The Santa Barbara Humane Society is happy to announce this year’s ‘Critter Camp’ program, a unique summer experience to help children express their love of animals,” said Peggy Langle, Santa Barbara Humane Society Executive Director. “Kids can look forward to having animal themes every day to incorporate into activities, crafts, books, and games.”
“Critter Camp” is a unique program that teaches children about companion animal care and the humane treatment of all animals. Activities include lessons on caring for animals, animal-related presentations, crafts, games and much more. A few highlights of camp include “Animal Jeopardy,” learning to clicker train dogs with a local dog trainer, and visiting the cats. Campers can also enjoy daily craft projects to create animal collages and bird feeders.
Registration is $65 for Santa Barbara Humane Society members and $90 for nonmembers. There is space for 10-12 campers in each session. Campers may only attend one session. Registration opens on April 1. To register, call (805) 964-4777 x17 or visit http://www.sbhumanesociety.org/services/humane-education/critter-camp/.
