Peoples’ Self-Help Housing Receives Support for Homeless Placement and Services from The Community Foundation San Luis Obispo County

SANTA BARBARA — Peoples’ Self-Help Housing (PSHH) has received a $10,000 grant from The Community Foundation San Luis Obispo County (CFSLOCO) to aid with the transition of 15 homeless families into permanent housing with support services and providing 75 households with prevention and case management services.

The funds will go toward low-income and special needs housing placement and stabilization, as well as providing affordable housing and supportive services for the homeless, seniors, people with disabilities and low-income households. The services will center on housing placement, preventing homelessness, and promoting self-sufficiency.

“You don’t have to go far in our community to see a family that has fallen on hard times and ended up on the street,” said John Fowler, PSHH President and CEO. “We strive to not only find safe, affordable homes for these families, but also provide the help they need to succeed and keep them from winding up in that situation again. We are grateful that The Community Foundation San Luis Obispo County understands and supports this mission.”
PSHH is among 30 recipients the CFSLOCO selected this year for grants totaling $228,800 – made possible through generous support from the Foundation’s Community Endowment and many donor funds held at the CFSLOCO. The Community Foundation has awarded more than $28 million in grants to assist nonprofit agencies in just 16 years.
