OXNARD — Oxnard Public Library will host Regina Gonzalez as she screens and comments on a 45-minute film interview of her late father Salvador Castaneda, which is interspersed with video clips he took in Vietnam at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4 at 251 S. A St., Oxnard, meeting room B.
Castaneda, a native of Oxnard, was a helicopter door gunner in Vietnam and a photographer at Pt. Mugu. He shot many reels of film during his two tours in Vietnam and his dream was to create a docudrama of that war from the Latino perspective, library officials reported. His daughter wants to honor her father by keeping his memory and his dream alive and by bringing awareness to those veterans who suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
The free presentation is part of a series of Cal Humanities “War Comes Home” grant programming.
