OXNARD — The Oxnard Performing Arts Center Nonprofit Corp. (OPAC) is thrilled to announce the release of “Lotería de Oxnard,” a reimagined, Oxnard-centric take on the traditional Mexican bingo game that highlights the people, places, and iconic things that make Oxnard one-of-a-kind. This project was made possible through the generous support of the Port of Hueneme, commemorated as card #43 in the set

“The Port of Hueneme is more than a global trade hub—it’s a proud part of the fabric of this community and we’re delighted to partner with OPAC in reimagining Lotería as a way to bring people together and celebrate what makes our beautiful region unique,” – Drew Rodriguez, Public & Community Relations Senior Representative for the Port of Hueneme.

“The Port of Hueneme is happy to continue building on these partnerships that promote the cultural arts and highlight our Oxnard and Ventura County culture and pride.” – Miguel Rodriguez, Director of Community Relations & Workforce Development

Local personas such as a muralist (La Muralista, #4), farmworkers/the heroes (Los Heroes, #52), and the boxer (El Boxeador, #17) are represented, as well as landmarks like the Channel Islands (Las Islas, #21), a community garden (El Jardín Comunitario, #42), and the Carnegie Art Museum (El Museo, #47). Fans of local flavor will recognize cultural mainstays, including tamales, micheladas, and even the popular cleaning product, “El Fabuloso.”

To celebrate the launch, OPAC will be hosting two community gaming events open to the public:

  • Small Business Saturday Lotería – Saturday, November 30, from 11am to 1pm at Heritage Coffee (210 W 7th St) in Downtown Oxnard. The event will include complimentary games, prizes, and an exclusive debut of OPAC’s new signature cinnamon latte, Canelatte (canela is cinnamon in Spanish). Proceeds from drink and loteria sales will support OPAC’s youth and family programs. Games will continue to be on sale at Heritage Square for the remainder of the year.

  • Casa Agria Game Night – Thursday, December 12 starting at 6pm at Casa Agria (701 N Del Norte Blvd # 360). An all-ages game night with complimentary games, prizes and more!

Each event will offer free-to-play rounds with prizes awarded to winners. Attendees will also have the opportunity to purchase their own “Lotería de Oxnard” game set for $20. For those unable to attend, the game is available for online purchase and can be shipped anywhere in the continental U.S.

“This is OPAC’s love letter to Oxnard” says OPAC’s Events & Programs Director, Christian Ramirez. “We invested nearly a year putting ‘Lotería de Oxnard’ together to capture the beauty, the humor and the essence of what makes Oxnard so special. My favorite card has to be “El Tio” (The Uncle), holding a beer and piñata…. That’s every uncle at every party.”
