Dear Friends,
The show must go on.
As we deal with restricted boundaries and “social distancing”, we know the power of music always finds a way to continue to connect with audiences… and to each other. We’re inspired by stories of artists from around the world who continue to share their music with the public and provide a much needed break from all the turmoil.
This is why we are inviting you to participate in what we are calling the LEMONADE SESSIONS. Yes, the name is a bit ambiguous, but rest assured its meaning is deeply rooted in our commitment to making the best of any situation.
But the main purpose here is to hand over the moment to you. It’s your time, your music, your art, and your words. Use your cell phone or other device to record a few songs or a 15-20 minute set from the safety of your home. When done, send us that video and we’ll share it with the world on our YouTube channel and Facebook site. We’ll also create links on our Instagram and Twitter accounts.
If you need more time, or, prefer less time, that’s okay, too. It’s your performance, and you can curate it however you like. We don’t want to send you a list of heavy instructions, but we will ask if you can follow these recommendations:
1. Keep your recording device close so we can hear you and your music as clearly as possible.
2. Try to record in a place that has enough light to illuminate you. Try to avoid too much light coming from behind you.
3. Try to keep it PG-13 and use social distancing guidelines (i.e. – no full bands should be playing together).
4. And, most of all, have fun with it.
You can email us your videos at info@oxnardperformingarts.com, or, if you have a cloud service you prefer to use, such as Dropbox, Sync, etc, just let us know.
We’ll post the videos and schedule them as we receive them. We’ll also include a brief bio of yourself with the post, so please include a short write-up and provide your social media handles, so we can cross-promote!
We want this process to be fun and easy, and if you have any recommendations to improve it as we go along, please let us know.
We want to start posting these videos as soon as this coming week. Also, please share this with other fellow musicians. We’re looking for artists from all over the place.
Once we all get past this moment in time, and the PACC doors are finally able to re-open, we want to work with you to plan a new series of shows in our venue. We know you’ll be itching to start playing live again, and we look forward to inviting you back to YOUR PACC.

OXNARD, CA – This week, the Oxnard Performing Arts Center Corporation announced the launch of a crowdsourced cultural programming series, LEMONADE SESSIONS, which will be streamed on its social media channels for the duration of the COVID-19 closure. Inspired by stories of artists from around the world who continue to share their music with the public and provide a much needed break from all the turmoil, LEMONADE SESSIONS is an open call to our community – and beyond – to participate.
LEMONADE SESSIONS hands over the moment to our community to curate their music, art, and words. Those interested in submitting a recording are asked to use their cell phone or other device to record either a few songs or a 15-20 minute set from the safety of their home. Completed videos can be sent to The PACC to be shared on the nonprofit’s YouTube channel and Facebook page, with additional exposure on Instagram and Twitter.
“The show must go on,” says the organization’s Executive Director, Carolyn Mullin. “The name of the series is deeply rooted in our commitment to making the best of any situation. We’ve made it through potential closure of The PACC, and we – staff, volunteers and. supporters – can certainly rise to this occasion.”
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
The PACC encourages musicians and other artists to curate their performance as they see fit. Submissions can be emailed to info@oxnardperformingarts.com, or, by cloud service (Dropbox, Sync, etc.) and should also include a brief bio, picture (if so desired) and social media handles.
For the best recording possible, The PACC advises artists to:
