Oxnard mayoral debate to be held on bilingual radio on Oct. 31

Candidates will appear on “The David Cruz Show” on KOXR 910AM

OXNARD – The four candidates for mayor of Oxnard will appear in an historic, bilingual radio debate from 7 to 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31 on “The David Cruz Show” on KOXR 910 AM, on Lazer Broadcasting, Ventura County’s leading Spanish-language radio group, it was reported in a media release.

The candidates scheduled to attend are: Dr. Irene Pinkard, Carmen Ramirez, Tim Flynn and Dr. Don Thibeault.

The debate will be moderated by David Cruz, former NBC4 TV anchor and Emmy-Award winning veteran broadcast journalist.

“This is the first time that a live radio program of this type provides both English and Spanish-speaking audiences in the Central Coast an opportunity to listen to the field of candidates from which one will be elected to lead the largest city in Ventura County,” Cruz said.

KOXR 910AM has been broadcasting since 1953 and is a pioneer in news and public affairs primarily for Ventura and Santa Barbara’s Spanish-speaking population. The station is now heard from the San Fernando Valley to Santa Maria and Santa Clarita as well as online at www.koxr910.com

“The debate signals the increasing importance placed by the mayoral candidates on voter participation by all segments of our community including Latinos and the commitment Lazer Broadcasting is making to help them make an informed decision,” Cruz said.
