Oxnard Housing Authority Resident Services Program to Receive NADC Arts and Accessibility Grant

National Arts and Disability Center at University of California Los Angeles to award the Oxnard Housing Authority Resident Services Department at La Colonia Village funds from the Arts and Accessibility Grant to expand community based art programming.

OXNARD — The Oxnard Housing Authority Resident Services Department from La Colonia Village is pleased to announce that it will be awarded funds from the Arts and Accessibility Grant a program by the National Arts and Disability Center at University of California Los Angeles, which is funded by the California Arts Council (a state agency).

This grant will be used to expand local art programming and introduce a series of free community based art workshops which cultivate positive community interaction, honor cultural diversity, and provide opportunities to learn life-long skills from artists who have overcome adversity and are successful in their field.

Lead artist, Ana Carrillo, will assist in coordinating and presenting this series of cultural arts workshops, which will include an author and actor presentation, printmaking training, Dia de Los Muertos calavera painting, piñata making and visual arts workshops.

This is the second year that the Oxnard Housing Authority Resident Services Department from La Colonia Village has had the honor of being a recipient of the Arts and Accessibility Grant from the National Arts and Disability Center at UCLA.
