Ventura County Fifth District Supervisor John C. Zaragoza congratulated Oxnard High School’s Academic Decathlon Team “A” with a presentation of commendation at the County of Ventura Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday, May 24, the supervisor’s office reported in a media release.
The special occasion was to recognize Oxnard High School Yellowjackets Academic Decathlon Team for their First Place Win at the Ventura County Academic Decathlon Competition and their 2nd place win at the California State competition.
“I am very proud and honored to be a Yellowjacket, especially when the new generation is preparing for the future; I hope to see all of your faces out there in the community, showing all of your talents. You deserve all of this attention; you have worked hard for it,” Zaragoza said.
Oxnard High School Principal Eric Riegert said he was very proud to accept the Board’s commendation, and stated that he and his staff strongly support academic excellence programs that promote team work and strong foundations for successful higher learning and careers. He congratulated the Academic Decathlon coaches, Chris Conte, Robert Borneman, Jim McCory and Karen Watson.
