Award-winning writer, director and producer Cheryl Quintana Leader will present her short documentary “The Purepecha: Poorest of the Poor” from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9 at the Oxnard College Performing Arts Complex, 4000 So. Rose Ave., Oxnard.
The documentary, which focuses on the plight of migrant farm working families in the Coachella Valley, is presented by the Oxnard College Fall Literature & Arts 2011 Lecture Series, the college reported in a media release.
“The Purepecha…”, which was cited by First Lady Michelle Obama and Oprah Winfrey, aired on TimeWarner Cable and was among a number of projects produced by INDIVISION2000 Productions, which creates quality educational media depicting positive multiracial/ethnic images in English/Spanish for the Latino community.
Quintana Leader was one of the first women candidates selected for Universal’s Hispanic Film Project with “Tanto Tiempo,” a five national award winnder and inductee into the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
