OXNARD — Celebrating the diversity of cultures in our community, Oxnard College hosts its annual Multicultural Day festival from 10 am. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 1.
The event is designed to enrich the quality of student life on campus by embracing the community at large through a multicultural exchange of art, traditions, and customs, college officials reported.
This event is organized by students, staff, administration and faculty every year to promote awareness of diversity and to expose a wide variety of human cultures and lifestyles. This year, student organizations and community groups will be performing traditional dance and hosting cultural expositions at their individual booths. Some of these groups are the Polynesian club at Oxnard College, NEMA (belly dance) club at Oxnard College, Aztec Dance group, Mariachi group, to name a few.
Oxnard College will be hosting several workshops for students and the surrounding community on various topics, such as Latin-American History, ethnic studies, cultural arts, and more.
