Special Guests DJs Rico & Mambo, comedians Momo Rodriguez and Jill-Michele Meleán and singers Karina Nuvo and Vanessa Verduga join host Rick Najera at Oxnard College Performing Arts Center
OXNARD — The Oxnard College Institute for Latino Performing Arts will present a special evening of live interviews, comedy and singing with Ha Ha Holidays! with doors open at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2 at the Oxnard College Performing Arts Center, 4000 S. Rose Ave. The show begins at 7 p.m.
Special guests include DJs Rico and Mambo, comedians Momo Rodriguez and Jill-Michele Meleán and singers Karina Nuvo and Vanessa Verduga, as part of its monthly Latino Thought Makers Live Series hosted by Rick Najera.
Entrance and parking are free. A $5 donation is suggested to benefit the Oxnard College Foundation supporting students in the arts.
“We are thrilled to offer this type of fun and festive holiday event for students and the community to enjoy,” Oxnard College vice president of academic affairs and student learning, Ken Sherwood stated in a media release. “Guests will be entertained with local talent as well as artists and performers from Hollywood.”
Rico and Mambo are radio hosts from Ventura County’s most popular morning show, The Rico and Mambo Morning Show on Q104-7 FM, weekdays from 5:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. The dynamic duo of Rico and Mambo teamed up years ago to offer listeners the trends of today’s popular culture from hip-hop and R&B to dance genres and capture a diverse audience of listeners. Rico and Mambo are very active supporting good causes ranging from breast and lung cancer to adoption and literacy programs, often including these organizations on their websites for their audiences’ awareness.
Also joining the party for a live stand-up comedy performances are comedians Momo Rodriguez, who most recently completed a national tour with Carlos Mencia, and Jill-Michele Meleán (Reno 911, MAD TV). Plus holiday musical performances by Grammy-nominated singer-songerwriter Karina Nuvo and singer-actress Vanessa Verduga.
Latino Thought Makers Live Series, hosted by Hollywood award-winning writer-director-producer-speaker and comedian Rick Najera, is an important initiative designed to engage, educate and entertain students and the general public of Oxnard, Camarillo and greater Ventura County communities. The series has showcased the successful careers of prominent Latinos in Hollywood including actors Edward James Olmos, Esai Morales, the family of Cesar Chavez, the creator and cast of Hulu’s East Los High, Grammy-award winning band Quetzal and more, as well as local community heroes.
