Covid Booster & Flu Shots
Dear Friends,
After fifteen very long months, Friendship Center opened to on-site services August 2. During that time we focused on one thing: Continuing to serve our members, families and the community, even in the most challenging moments.
Now, as we settle in and apply our lessons learned, we’re focused on continuing to provide the most relevant on-site services to our membership.
For many organizations, the pandemic was a wake-up-call, challenging the way we do business and testing our ability to weather incredible uncertainty. Even though the pandemic is not totally behind us, one thing is certain: We could not have gotten through these stormy months without the support of our board of directors, staff, and our community. This stalwart support has helped us to safeguard our programs and ensure that—without a beat—Friendship Center would pivot, become stronger, and continue to flourish.
We have weathered the storm, and now that the sun is shining, certainly there must be a silver lining?  Perhaps, there is a pot of gold waiting for us at the end of the rainbow?
With Gratitude,
Heidi Holly
Executive Director
P.S. Don’t miss my interview with Nonprofit Kinnect CEO Cynder Sinclair, PhD. In it, we discuss the various services contained in Friendship Center’s mission.

Program Happenings
Music & Dance
Snapshot
Meet Snapshot, the five-person rock band fluent in bebop, the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. Snapshot rocked the courtyard at Friendship Center awhile back.
L-R, above, we had Anthony on bass, George (aka the human metronome) on drums, lead singer Dee, Howard on lead guitar, and Carolyn on rhythm guitar.
As always when music is playing, Manny out-danced every lady, young or experienced-at-life!
Heidi and Sophia joined the dancing fun in the courtyard, showing off their umbrella moves.
Bunny, Bunny, Guinea Pig, Bunny!
Friendship Center enjoyed a visit from an joy-inducing squad of bunnies and guinea pigs during a warm and fuzzy visit from Abel Swanson of Party Animals.
CDC Recommends Covid Booster
for 65 and Older
The CDC now recommends that people aged 65 years and older, residents aged 18 years and older in long-term care settings, and people aged 50–64 years with underlying medical conditions should receive a booster shot of Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 Vaccine at least 6 months after completing their Pfizer-BioNTech primary series. Other groups may receive a booster shot based on their individual risk and benefit. Learn more.
Please talk to your doctor about both the Covid-19 booster and the flu shots as soon as possible. Friendship Center wishes you a happy and healthy holiday season.
Volunteers Needed!

We need . . .
ENTERTAINERS! Trust me . . . you have a talent! Music, singing, dancing, exercising, baking, teaching, art ~ sky’s the limit!

TECH-SAVVY folks to help with our website design.
WRITERS to assist with blogs, newsletters, and grant writing.
Note we have no age requirements. Opportunities can be in-person or remote, though in-person folks must be able to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination status.
Make Friendship Center Your Amazon Charity and Donate While You Shop! Amazon will donate .05% of your purchase to Friendship Center at no extra cost to you.
Virtual Programming to Continue as We Transition
At Friendship Center, we foster strong partnerships with family caregivers. Even as we transition toward in-person services, we will still continue with Zoom services in some capacity. Staff is still available to show caregivers how to help members stay connected via Zoom.
Keeping our members engaged with friends and activities while we implement the transition back to in-person activities is our continued goal. We are here to make this possible.
For more information about enrolling, please contact Family Services Manager Kim Larsen at: kim@friendshipcentersb.org or (805) 969-0859, ext. 2.
See You Soon!
