Celebrate Fire Prevention Week through Oct. 12, 2019
CAMARILLO — Join local firefighters for two free open house events in celebration of national Fire Prevention Week, happening October through Oct. 12, 2019.
In support of this year’s campaign, Ventura County firefighters will host two events from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 5th at Fire Station 21 in Ojai and Saturday, October 12th at Fire Station 29 in Santa Paula.
This is a great opportunity for families to learn what they can do to keep their loved ones safe while enjoying popcorn, hot dogs, snow cones, fun activities and station tours.
This year’s theme, “Not Every Hero Wears a Cape; Plan and Practice Your Escape” serves to educate community members about the small but important actions they can take to improve fire safety.
In a typical home fire, you may have as little as one to two minutes to escape safely from the time the smoke alarm sounds. In this video, Firefighter Robbie shares tips for creating and practicing exit drills in the home.
Fire Station 21 is located at 1201 E. Ojai Av. Ojai, CA 93023. Fire Station 29 is located at 114 S 10th St. Santa Paula, CA 93060.
Fire Prevention Week campaign is hosted annually by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). Visit www.firepreventionweek.org for more information about the 2019 Fire Prevention Week campaign
