Luncheon Takes Place at Pacific View Tower Club

VENTURA COUNTY — Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation’s (TBCF) Annual Little Heroes Luncheon will recognize Ventura County local and cancer survivor Jonathan Arroyo. Arroyo is now twenty years old and cancer free after a long battle with a brain tumor. He is now a proud advocate on behalf of Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation and serves as a spokesman for the organization.
Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation assisted Jonathan and his family by providing financial aid which supports expenses such as rent, utilities, car payments, gas and groceries; covering the expenses of neuropsychological testing and tutoring as part of their Educational Advocacy Program; Project Holiday, which provides a Christmas tree and Christmas presents to recipients and their siblings; and social support such as field trips. On one such trip, Jonathan and his family (as well as several dozen other families) attended a Kings Hockey game and his family received customized Los Angeles Kings jerseys and additional tickets to a Kings Hockey Game. During the game, Jonathan led the team onto the ice!
“I am happy to support Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation. They have done so much for me and my family and I want to make sure others in Ventura County know about this great organization that helps families through a very challenging time,” said Jonathan Arroyo, now 19 years-old.
The Little Heroes Luncheon supports TBCF’s efforts to alleviate the enormous emotional and financial burdens for Ventura County families who are caring for their child who has cancer. There is no cost to attend the Luncheon, but there will be a formal ask at the event where guests can donate an amount that is meaningful to them. Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation is grateful to the Camarillo/Somis/Pleasant Valley Lions Club for stepping up as advocate sponsors, as well as Table Captains Caroline Arroyo, Tyler Dobson, Lisa Macias, Susie Perrys, Angela Sanchez, Lisa Smithson, Sandy Stassart, Bonnie Trejos and Sharon Uhlig.
Dr. Chris Landon
Chris Landon, Doctor of Pediatric Medicine and the Executive Director of the Landon Research Institute in California will serve as the Luncheon’s featured speaker.
Dr. Landon has over 40 years of experience in the medical field as a doctor, lecturer, writer, researcher and professor. He has been involved in Pediatrics and Pediatric Pulmonology since the late 1970’s and has served as a Clinical Associate Professor of Pediatrics and of Family Medicine at USC and UCLA respectively.
?Board Certified in both Pediatrics and Pediatric Pulmonology, Dr. Landon has spent most of his vast career focusing on improving the health of children. In 1993, he founded the Landon Pediatric Foundation, which maintains a comprehensive system of family-oriented care to the children of Ventura County.
Emcee Brad Jay is an “on-air personality” weekday mornings on 99.9 KTYD in Santa Barbara. He is also an event and TV host for some of the world’s largest sporting events including X Games, the Olympic Games, ABC’s World of X Games, Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Dodgers, U.S. Open Snowboarding, and the ESPY’s Red Carpet. Brad Jay is also the father of a recipient served by TBCF.
Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation is a non-profit organization providing financial, educational and emotional support to families of children with cancer living in Santa Barbara, Ventura, and San Luis Obispo counties.
