VENTURA — The Museum of Ventura County will host a panel discussion, 2 to 4 p.m., Nov. 2, on the history, experiences and contributions of ARTLIFE founder and publisher Joe Cardella at the Museum’s Martin V. and Martha K. Smith Pavilion, 100 E. Main St., Ventura. The discussion is presented in conjunction with the Museum’s pop-up exhibit of Cardella’s works and issues of ARTLIFE currently on display honoring the Ventura artist’s life and legacy.
Cardella published ARTLIFE 11 times a year, assembling by hand collages, photographs, drawings and poetry from artists around the world. While ARTLIFE shines as Cardella’s great legacy, his own art, and that which he collected throughout his 72 years, also contributed a diverse array of creative ideas to the art community. Cardella, an integral part of Ventura’s arts community, recently passed away from cancer.
The event is free to Museum members, with a $5 fee for non-members and $3 for students and seniors. For more information, visit venturamuseum.org or call (805) 653-0323. For information on the ARTLIFE Foundation email: artlifeinc72@gmail.com.
