RECAP: “A Night of Medicine, Music & Movement with Shine Rilling at The District House”

Shine is one of those rare beings who carries medicine in everything he does — his words, his movement, his textiles, his music, his presence. As a speaker, healer, musician, teacher, and lifelong Earth ally, he weaves together wisdom from biology, psychology, indigenous traditions, ceremony, and lived experience into a single, coherent tapestry of transformation.

And from the moment he stepped into The District House, that tapestry began to unfurl.

The night began with a live indigenous flute invocation, accompanied by a friend on hand drum. The room filled with a grounded, ceremonial heartbeat — a sound that felt both ancient and immediate, spacious and intimate. It set the tone for the evening: we weren’t here for a lecture; we were here for a living experience.

District216’s own Hannah Jo joined Shine for a deep interview exploring:

  • Microdosing as a tool for subtle awakening
  • The teachings of Amazonian and North American plant medicine traditions
  • How ceremony guides us back to source
  • The ecological and cultural responsibilities of working with sacred plants
  • The importance of community for modern healing

Decriminalize Nature Santa Barbara — Join the Movement!

We’ve launched a community-driven initiative to decriminalize and expand access to entheogenic plants and fungi within the City of Santa Barbara. Our mission is rooted in healing, education, and local political action — and we need your help to make it real. Please take the next step and click the “JOIN” button at www.decriminalizenaturesantabarbara.org to become an official supporter. It’s free, fast, and powerful.

Why are we asking for your support?

We met with City Council members and they are most interested in issues that are most important to their constituents. Having a count of registered voters by Voting District will allow us to successfully persuade them of the importance to this community. The risk is lowered with decriminalization and we need your support to get this done.

Immediate Volunteer Opportunities

We’re looking for community members ready to share their time, skills, and energy:

  • Advocates: Help mobilize supportive voters and increase turnout at local government meetings.
  • Social Media Creators: Design shareable templates and assist with posting and outreach, messaging, website updates.
  • Video Storytellers: Create short videos for city council meetings and social platforms.
  • Data Analysts: Help us interpret data and craft persuasive, evidence-based messages.

Entheogenic plants and fungi — including psilocybin mushrooms, cacti, ayahuasca, and iboga — inspire deep healing and spiritual growth. Together, let’s decriminalize access to these natural medicines and foster a healthier, more compassionate community.
