SANTA BARBARA — UCSB Arts & Lectures presents a conversation with Adam Grant on Thursday, November 16 at 7:30 p.m. at The Arlington Theatre. In this paradigm-shifting conversation, organizational psychologist and Penn Wharton School of Business professor Adam Grant offers a new framework for raising aspirations and exceeding expectations from his new book Hidden Potential: The Science of Achieving Greater Things (just released on Oct 24, 2023).

Just Announced: Five-time Grand Slam winner Maria Sharapova will moderate a discussion with visionary thinker Adam Grant on Hidden Potential: The Science of Achieving Greater Things.

Grant is the No. 1 New York Times bestselling author of Think Again and Originals. His new book, Hidden Potential: The Science of Achieving Greater Things, explores how to build the skills and structures to achieve greater things, and how to create opportunities for those who have been overlooked. We can all improve at improving – and when opportunity doesn’t knock, there are ways to build a door.

ABOUT MARIA SHARAPOVA

Maria Sharapova is a world-class tennis champion, investor and entrepreneur. Her passion for craftsmanship and detail is reflected in everything she does – both on and off the tennis court. After moving to the United States from Russia at age six to pursue her tennis career, Maria turned professional at age 14. She won Wimbledon at age 17 – the first of her five career Grand Slam titles – and was the seventh female player in the open era to complete the career Grand Slam. Outside of tennis, Maria is an active founder, CEO and business investor. She is an equity owner of Supergoop and a long time ambassador for evian, and continues to expand her business portfolio as an investor and strategic advisor to a variety of companies, including Tonal, Therabody, Public.com, Bala and Wolf & Shepherd. She also recently joined the board of public company Moncler. Across all of her business ventures, Maria works with her partners to advise on a variety of aspects of each business — including product development, creative branding, content strategy, growth and expansion — leveraging her experiences as a professional athlete, entrepreneur and consumer to provide unique insights and strategic counsel. In addition to her work as an athlete and entrepreneur, she is also passionate about design and architecture — launching her first-ever furniture collection in partnership with Rove Concepts. Whatever it is, Sharapova brings a creative and hands-on approach to all of her projects.
