Nov. 21, 22 at 8 p.m.; Nov. 15 and 22 — CSUCI’s Dance, Music, and Theatre Department Presents EVERYBODY

Brandon Jacobs-Jenkins’ modern spin on a classic morality tale that explores life, death, and what truly matters.

CAMARILLO — The Dance, Music, and Theatre Department and the Theatre and Performance Studies program at Cal State Channel Islands (CSUCI) proudly present EVERYBODY, a bold and inventive adaptation of the 15th-century morality play Everyman, written by MacArthur “genius” award winner Brandon Jacobs-Jenkins.

This witty and thought-provoking production takes audiences on a rollicking journey through the meaning of life, the inevitability of death, and the question of what we hold most dear. In an unexpected twist, the title character—Everybody—is chosen by lottery from a small cast of actors live on stage at each performance. When Death suddenly arrives, Everybody must confront what it truly means to be human.

“This play is both funny and deeply moving,” said Laura Covault, instructor, co-director, and producer. “It invites audiences to laugh, reflect, and see themselves inEverybody’s journey.”
