SANTA MARIA — The Righetti High School Counseling Department will present “Mental Health Matters” inside the Warrior cafeteria on Tuesday, November 12.
The 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. program will focus on contemporary issues facing students and families, according to school liaison Crystal Buchan. Topics scheduled for discussion include teenager mental health, suicide prevention, vaping/substance abuse, and social media and bullying, Buchan added.
The counseling department hopes the information will better equip students, parents and the community.
“A student’s unmet mental health needs can be a significant obstacle to student success in academics, career and social/emotional development,’’ said school counselor Eric Blanco. “The event will help families and their students connect with mental health resources and programs and can be the step in getting the support and/or services they need to be successful in our schools and community.’’
